Origami artist Chris K. Palmer specializes in complex origami tessellations — “a flat surface is the tiling of a plane using one or more geometric shapes, called tiles, with no overlaps and no gaps” — that he folds with repeating patterns in paper, cloth, and silk. He was featured in filmmaker Vanessa Gould‘s Between the Folds, a documentary that profiles the artists, mathematicians, and scientists that are exploring the art form. In the clip above, he folds (and almost seems to crush) Flower Tower, one of his well known compositions.
