If you’ve ever wanted to bake the rubber duck cake from Bluey, you’re in luck. This Binging with Babish video by cook and filmmaker Andrew Rea fulfills a long-standing request from his viewers, demonstrating how to bring the Bluey duck cake to life.

The video is complete with the recipe for mixing and assembling a “construction-grade” cake, frosting it, and adding caramel popcorn, licorice, M&Ms, fruit tape, and ridged potato chips.

duck cake
The Babish duck cake recipe calls for 450 grams of unsalted butter at room temperature, 650 grams of granulated sugar, 1 1/2 tablespoons of baking powder, and 1 1/4 teaspoons of kosher salt for the cake batter. Additionally, the batter requires 8 room temperature eggs, 450 grams of buttermilk at room temperature, 115 grams of vegetable oil, 2 tablespoons of vanilla paste, and 680 grams of all-purpose flour.

caramel corn
For the caramel corn topping (if you don’t want to buy it at the store), you’ll need 50 grams of coconut oil, 60 grams of popcorn kernels, 150 grams of brown sugar, 85 grams of unsalted butter, 170 grams of corn syrup, 1/2 teaspoon of kosher salt, 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and 1/8 teaspoon of baking soda.

Finally, the frosting includes 680 grams of whole milk, 115 grams of all-purpose flour, 500 grams of granulated sugar, 675 grams of unsalted butter at room temperature, a pinch of salt, food coloring (optional), and vanilla or any favorite flavoring.

Adjustments may be necessary for personal preferences and dietary needs. Though some equipment is optional, you’ll need a few specialty items, including half sphere baking pans.
