These small, slowly-unfolding, precisely cut pieces of silver paper — a sort of micro-origami — are by French artistΒ Etienne Cliquet. Just two to three centimeters wide, Flottille explores both art and physics, as described in this translation:
They have a short life. The forces that drive them do not meet the laws of gravity, but at most imperceptible phenomena such as capillary action and surface tension exerted between the liquid and paper.
