Gâteau Gato, a cat-themed chocolate zoetrope cake

Watch more with these video collections:

Gâteau is the French word for cake. Gato is the Spanish word for cat. And artist Alexandre Dubosc is known for his chocolate cake zoetropes, spinning devices that create the illusion of animation. In this video, he’s made a cat-themed zoetrope cake that’s full of familiar felines, including Felix the Cat, a Nyan Cat/Totoro Catbus mashup, Maneki-neko, and more: Gâteau Gato.

Watch more of Dubosc’s animated chocolate cake zoetropes and More zoetrope videos, including embroidered zoetrope animations, Fish Eating Fish and Jumping Frogs, and a 3D printed ‘wheel-of-light’ zoetrope that walks and dances.

Plus, this excellent explainer: Pixar’s Zoetrope and how animation works.
