How to harvest honey

How is honey harvested from a bee hive? British tv presenter and science ‘edutuber’ Maddie Moate spends the day with her mother, a beekeeper, to collect a few honey-filled frames from their two hives. This How to Harvest Honey video is one in a series of vids dedicated to bees on Moate’s excellent YouTube channel.

We’ve covered honey-making before, but Moate’s 101 about how bees make honey is also a good follow up to the video above, especially for kids:

We love bees. For more offline exploration, check out Bees: A Honeyed History, a beautifully illustrated book about the bee life cycle, bee anatomy, swarms, the Waggle Dance, beehives, pollination, flowers and our food, bees and dinosaurs, and more.

This Webby award-winning video collection exists to help teachers, librarians, and families spark kid wonder and curiosity. TKSST features smarter, more meaningful content than what's usually served up by YouTube's algorithms, and amplifies the creators who make that content.
