YouTube is filled with variations on this apple pie in a pan recipe, and UK-based Varga Savor Recipes makes it look easy. The recipe includes one egg and two large sliced apples (or four small ones). Laying the apple slices out in a neatly-arranged spiral helps to level up the look of this dessert.
The full recipe is included in the video captions:
“In a pan add 1 tbsp oil and sprinkle 2 tbsp sugar. Place the apple slices on top of the sugar and let it cook on very low heat for a few minutes.
“Now we will prepare the batter for the cake by cracking one egg in a bowl. Add 5 tbsp sugar and 1 tsp vanilla extract and mix well. Add 1/2 cup milk, 3 tbsp oil and 1 tbsp vinegar and mix well. Sieve through 3/4 cup of flour, 2 tsp baking powder and mix well.
“Pour the batter over the apples in the pan. Cover and cook for 35 minutes on low heat. Flip over the cake and cook other side for 5 minutes on low heat without covering.”
