With patience and practice, watercolor artist and art tutorial YouTuber Jay Lee Painting demonstrates how to create flowers with layered petals. Using water to diffuse the watercolor paints helps create a delicate, weightless effect. Drying the painting between layers increases their transparent qualities.
This layered petals technique can be applied to different kinds of flowers with any color, or even multiple colors. Or why not try it with other plants and objects: Leaves, wings, fabrics, glass, and more. This second petal layers video, below, demonstrates with different species and colors.
