Do you have a jump rope? After watching this video with your kid(s), you may need one. Or two.
This retro video from the mid-1980s is of the Jazzy Jumpers, Brooklyn’s world champion double dutch team. It was filmed during a New York City jump rope competition and, from what internet sleuthing has gathered, is included in a documentary titled Dance Black America, circa 1985.
The Brownsville-based organization continues to compete and provide “a safe haven for the neighborhood’s children and teenagers.”
