The Kid Should See This

Up close and underwater as a humpback whale breaches

From above the water and below, watch as a fully grown, 52ft long, 44 ton male humpback whale breaches in front of a snorkeler. The incredible moment was captured by Australian photographer Beau Pilgrim, who was filming off the coast of Vava’u, Tonga. He wrote on Facebook:

It was the most surreal and incredible experience last week in Tonga, being metres from this Humpack Whale when it breached and landed next to me. Such an amazing adrenaline rush!

Moment of impact when 40 tonne of Humpback Whale hits the water. If you look closely, you can see chunks of barnacles and skin which were dislodged on impact.
